Our apartment in Amsterdam

Staying somewhere new can be daunting, especially when you’re in a new environment. So renting out an apartment which we’d never seen in person was a big task! Here’s a tour of our new apartment, taken within a few hours of landing in Amsterdam.

Sale sign in Denmark

I took this photo a few years ago while strolling down a highstreet where I noticed that many of the stores displayed brightly coloured poster boards with the words “slutspurt” written across them. Any guesses what country this was taken in?

Giving thanks with sequins instead of stuffing. Crop Over Festival, Barbados

February 26, 2014 By Rebecca Leave a Comment

The Crop Over parade arrives!

It was a bright, sunny day in Barbados, when Dave and I walked towards a small wooden bus shelter and waited for a bus to Bridgetown, to watch the annual Crop Over parade.  The birds chirped happily as small cars zipped past us on the narrow streets. Within minutes,  a small yellow and blue bus […]

Reaching out to touch a turtle

I have always dreamed about diving into the ocean and exploring a coral reef -to get close to sea creatures and glimpse into their world.  So when I got the chance to swim with the turtles in Barbados, I jumped at the chance. Dave and I climbed on to the well-loved, two-storey catamaran of a […]

My adventures at TBEX 2013

June 7, 2013 By Rebecca 6 Comments

I’ve just returned from TBEX (also known as the Travel Blog Exchange), which is a conference for travel bloggers, writers and new media content creators.  This year, the conference was held not too far from home in Toronto, Ontario and, having read lots of good feedback on last year’s event, I decided to check it […]

May 19, 2013 By Rebecca Leave a Comment

It’s not every day, you get to see an eclipse.  Watching Venus pass in front of the sun is even rarer. So when I got a chance to watch it happen, I jumped at the chance! During a special event held at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, people got the chance to watch […]

Just steps away from Birmingham City Centre, lies a veritable “lovers lane” in the heart of England.  Birmingham`s Jewellery Quarter is perhaps Birmingham’s most romantic district.  Here are my four favorite romantic excursions for the area: Write a love letter at the Pen Room Museum. Tucked away in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter lies […]

Checking out the world’s largest Maple Syrup Festival

April 11, 2013 By Rebecca Leave a Comment

Mmmm maple syrup…it’s good on pancakes, on waffles, French toast, apple fritters… I’ve even had it in the best chicken gravy I’ve ever tasted. To me, and many Canadians, it’s an almost mystical syrup which makes just about anything taste better. Oh, and did I mention it’s made from all natural ingredients, specifically boiled down syrup […]

ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Rebecca!
For as long as I can remember, I've dreamed of adventure and rebelled against the idea that life should follow some sort of pre-determined path. That's why, at the age of 18, I moved half-way around the world from Canada to the UK in search of new experiences. Since then, I’ve lived in three countries and travelled to nearly 20. My goal is to experience as much of the world as I can and to lead a location independent lifestyle. This blog will document my journey and, hopefully, inspire you to achieve your own goals.
